Maps Informática Industrial began its activity in 1973, being founded by engineers from Barcelona, among whom stands out Josep Amat i Girbau, a renowned professor and researcher at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Its main activity was the development and manufacturing of equipment for process control of various systems. In the 70s it began to use more advanced technologies, especially in the area of microcomputers.
Later, the design of a modular multiprocessor system based on an 8-bit CPU (S-500 industrial control computer) was carried out. This is used both for the control of industrial processes and for the computerized verification of manufactured equipment.
The S-600 Industrial Electronic Equipment based on a 16-bit multiprocessor system (type 80186) was also designed and marketed. This equipment makes it possible to address the computerization of larger production processes, especially for computer-aided manufacturing systems (CAD/CAM) and robotic systems.

We received the Award for the Best Business Initiatives (1984), established by the Periódico de Catalunya (Group Z) and the XIII Award for Creativity (1995) from the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia, for the Computer Vision System project, Oriented to high-speed inspection. As a result of the work carried out, the SKIDS European Research Project was approved, presented jointly with other European companies from the C.E.E. – Matra (F), Aerospace (GB) and Krupp-Atlas (A) -. This project was part of the European ESPIRIT program, aimed at the development of an advanced system for interpreting natural environments for the integration and processing of multisensory information. The duration of this project was five years.

We have a cohesive and quality human team, prepared to face the adversities of manufacturing and exporting all manufactured products sent to any country in the world. The engineering and design department acts in the field of R&D, generating prototypes, updates and tests supported by a quality management system of the ISO 9001:2015 standard prepared by the International Standardization Organization (ISO). . by its acronym in English). The central facilities of MAPS are located in the Putxet neighborhood of Barcelona, and occupy an area of about 300 m2 equipped with the necessary resources for the promotional activity.
